Morning guys!
sorry I haven't been on in a couple days, last week Wednesday my comp ran into a repeating "CRITICAL_SERVICE_FAILED"
lemme know in the comments if you know what this means.
Anyways, lets get down to bussiness
so while I was taking a "forced vacation" I did some research and came up with a pretty good projected computer setup
for any beginning hacker (white hat, black hat, gray hat)
here goes:
OS: Windows 7 or fedora 18
Video card: preferably integrated or an EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1302-LR or better.
Processor: Intel I7 or Pentium
OS bit: preferably 64-bit but 32 works just as fine
OK now lets get down to the software.
Windows7: The first thing you're going to want to do is install an IRC like trillian then get
-a DDOS tool: like LOIC or Snakebite (mine is a homemade batch file, may not be the most effective against bigger sites but at least it don't give away my IP
-a SQLI tool: now you could get a very complex one like sql map or sqlninja and waste time downloading a PL and tryin to use a combo of the PL's GUI, cmd and powershell or just do it old style with the omnibox
now personally I prefer The Mole for all SQLI attacks, its super simple, fast and powerful
- a password cracker: Brutus in my opinion is the best because it flys "under the radar" of most antiviruses and when is detected it's not "malicious" enough to be auto kicked from your system like John the Ripper and Cain and Abel
- a tool suite: OWASP ZAP or WEBSURGERY are the 2 best. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how they work.
- notepad for RAW coding
- some kind of antivirus (i use advanced systemcare 7, macaffee security scan + and iobit malware fighter
ok now for a linux OS: basically all you have to do is download, burn on to a dvd and boot to backtrack 5. its basically all the afore mentioned tools in one giant muthafawken awesome ball! (well minus the IRC)
anyways hope this helped
thanks for reading
regards
HJ
